This topic was probably brought up before but I couldn't find the exact title so here I am, bringing it up again. hehe
I was just wondering if you torrent users could post the sites you use most when searching and downloading torrents. This will help me out a lot because as of now, I only use torrentportal.com and isohunt.com, and it would be nice to use other sites that are out there. I've tried to google them but nothing of significance is coming up. Thanks very much for your help.

Torrent Harvester searches a myriad of torrent sites using supplied keywords.

Torrent Harvester seems to cost money. I don't think it'd be worth it, is it?
demonoid.com
scrapetorrent.com
those are my main 2 sites. demonoid you need to register, but you can do that easily, and it's every friday, GMT, cept this friday, the 5th of january
and...uh, some other ones, I'll remember them eventually

It wouldn't be worth it if it cost money, but it's free, nice, and totally accessible.

Hmmmm.

My attempt to sign up with BTJunkie was thwarted by the image verification system.

a torrent is a small file which contains metadata about the files to be shared, and about the tracker, the computer that coordinates the file distribution. Peers that want to download the file first obtain a torrent file for it, and connect to the specified tracker which tells them from which other peers to download the pieces of the file.

scrapetorrent.com is a metatorrent search site that searches torrentspy, the pirate bay, mininova, meganova, btjunkie, demonoid, and others! and presents the results in a very accessible table structure. Check them out!

Hi kids!

I was just curious what torrent program you all use and why? Everyone seems to have thier favorites. I personally use uTorrent. It's accessible (with use of JAWS cursor) small and seems to be the most reliable of those I have tried. I just wanted to know what others used?

A few more sites to add to the list.

www.torrentscan.com

www.newtorrents.info

and www.diggtorrents.com.
diggtorrents uses google to search for torrents.

As for torrent clients, I like bitcomet because it allows you to select the files you want to download. An example might be just downloading a certain song rather than the entire album.

Yup, uTorrent can do that too. It is a great feature isn't it? I wouldn't know what to do without it.

Thanks for all the new site ideas. Its fun to play.

I hope that Demonoid keeps the torrent I want up a little longer. I want to get the thing, but since I can't join until friday, I am afaid I am going to lose my chance. Any good ideas on torrent sites for Audio books? That is mostly what I collect on these things.

Hmmm, is this complicated? How does it differ from say Kazza or winmx?

Thanks,
Very much a newby and clueless. *smile*

the only difference I can see is that with torents, it doesn't matter what program you use verses winmx and kasa, you're limited to getting material from people on whatever program you have downloaded.
But otherwise I believe it's the same.

Generally, Torrents are better for bigger things. You have a better time finding and downloading big stuff like whole albums, videos, whole audio books, etc. You can find some single songs, but, generally you have a better time of it if you look at big stuff.

Oo! New sites! Thanks KT.

Just stay away from torrentbox.com. I read on another thread it has spyware.

Post 21 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 14-Feb-2007 15:31:26

yep, sure does.

I was reading the FAQ on demonoid and it sounds like they don’t like BitComet. Here is what they had to say. What is the required software and where can I get it? In order to connect to the tracker and get the files the .torrent file points to, you will need
to have installed a BitTorrent Client. Please do not use BitComet, BitLord and its derivatives. They cause your ratio to be misreported, and cause transfer
troubles. Now I don’t know about anyone else, I have not yet joined demonoid, but I have not had any problems so far with BitComet.

I believe the newer version work fine, so as long as your using the latest version, you shouldn't have a problem. I use Utorrent , http://www.utorrent.com for my torrents. It only uses like 6MB of memory and stuff so it's not using enough to get in my way.

Post 24 by b3n (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 17-Feb-2007 15:21:14

yeah utorrents cool.
I usually use thepiratebay first followed by mininova, isohunt and torrentspy.
But sometimes i'll just type download torrent xyz into google.

BEN.
